The McLennan Highlanders captured the program's second National Championship in college history last week at the par-72, 7,192- yard Hampton Cove River Course in Hunstville, Ala.

MCC (290-294-304-297 -- 1185) and New Mexico (295-295-306-289 -- 1185) finished the final round in a tie for first place, forcing a playoff. The Highlanders won the playoff by one stroke to claim the title.

"We knew that we were six strokes down after the first 12 holes," coach Vince Clark said. "The boys knew their backs were against they wall and they had to deliver. They are true champions and am I so proud of them."
