Thanks to Wayne Baker of Odessa College for this report
The Odessa College men's golf team received the number two ranking in the first national poll of the 2012-13 collegiate golf season. Defending NJCAA national champion Indian Hills Community College, Iowa received the top billing to start out the 2012 fall season. Odessa College finished the 2102 spring season by finishing third in the NJCAA national tournament held in Kansas.
Three of the top six golfers from 2012 return for the Wranglers as they attempt to win the ninth national championship in golf for Odessa College. Led by Jamie Warman (Australia), the Wranglers open the 2012 fall season at the High Country Shootout in Ruidoso, NM. Warman finished as the number four individual in the nation at the 2012 NJCAA national tournament. Transfer Cody Taylor (Midlothian, TX) finished as the number three individual at the NJCAA national tournament, and will play for the Wranglers this year as Texarkana Community College eliminated their golf program after the 2012 season.
Sophomores Tad Darland (Boerne, TX) and Logan Philley (Robert Lee, TX) return to the Wrangler squad and will look to settle into the top five in 2012-13. Newcomers Jack Winnard (England), Janzen Digby (Odessa, TX), Beau Hanson (Frazee, MN) and Micah Rodgers (Odessa, TX) will join the team to also compete for a position within the top five.
The Wranglers will compete in fourteen tournaments during the 2012-13 collegiate season, culminating with an appearance at the NJCAA national tournament, which will be held the Rawls Course in Lubbock, TX during the week of May 12-17, 2013.
