MCC Golf Celebrates with Congressman Chet Edwards
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The McLennan Community College men's golf team captured the program's second consecutive NJCAA Division I Men's Golf National Championship in Huntsville, Ala., after thunderstorms forced the cancellation of the final round.

The Highlanders shot 286-289-285 - 860 to finish nine strokes ahead of second-place
Meridian with 289-291-289- 869. Indian Hills finished in third with 291-291-289 - 871.

Juan Salceldo led the Highlanders with 70-7371 - 214 to finish in fifth place. Brandt
Garon of Meridian claimed the individual title with 71-72-68 - 211.

Other MCC scores: Tyler Russell, tied for eighth, 74-74-69 - 217; Nathan Anderson,
tied for eighth, 69-73-75 - 217; Jeremy Lambright, tied for 16th, 73-71-75 - 219; and
Jeff Hageman, tied for 30th, 81-72-70 - 223.

Other Region 5 schools finishing in the top-15 were:  Odessa (t-5th), New Mexico JC (7th), Midland (t-11th), Frank Phillips (t-11th) and New Mexico Military Institute (15th).

Salcedo, Russell, Anderson and Lambright received All-American honors for their
performances. Salcedo was named to the first team, while Russell and Anderson were
second-team selections. Anderson was an honorable mention.
Coach Vince Clark was named the NJCAA Coach of the Year after leading the
Highlanders to their second consecutive national title.
