The 2013 NJCAA Region 5 baseball tournament will begin Saturday, May 11 and run through May 15 at Quick Trip Park in Grand Prarie, Texas.
The top four teams from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) and the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) will be playing for the opportunity to represent Region 5 at the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.
ODESSA (Oct. 9, 2012) - Special Olympic Texas, Area 18-Permian Basin/Big Bend hosted their annual area softball competition on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Odessa College. Teams from Fort Stockton, Monahans, Odessa and Ector County came together to compete in slow-pitch softball, softball tee-ball and individual skills competitions. In the slow-pitch softball division there were four teams, one of which was a "unified" team. A unified team is a team combined with Special Olympics Texas athletes (qualified under the guidelines with intellectual disabilities) and players who are siblings or parents that do not have an intellectual disability.
GAINESVILLE - North Central Texas College athletes were able to give back to the community and have some fun at the same time during the first-ever The Sky's The Limit Balloon Spectacular in Gainesville Sept. 7-9.
The event, which benefitted the North Texas Medical Center Foundation, brought in more than 20 hot-air balloons for the three-day event. Despite windy conditions playing havoc with balloon flying on Fridaynight and Saturday, thousands of people attended the festival.
The schedule for the annual Texas-New Mexico all-star baseball game was recently announced. The games will be played at Concordia University in Austin, Texas September 27-29, 2012.
