Alexis Aguirre had a chance to continue her volleyball career close to home, but she chose to leave New Mexico and play for Odessa College instead.

For the first time in program history, the Odessa College volleyball team earned a spot in the NJCAA top 25 poll.

The Wranglers checked in at No. 14 in the 2014 preseason poll released Wednesday. The list also included four other Texas junior college squads.

The Odessa College Volleyball team had three players make commitments to 4-year institutions recently. Holly Benoit will continue her volleyball career with Dallas Baptist University this fall, Jackie Bautista will be playing for Our Lady of the Lakes University in San Antonio, and Natalija Djordjevic will attend Grand Canyon University.

The first of, what is expected to be, several members of the Midland College volleyball program to sign with four-year universities, Lady Chap sophomore setter, Kristina Gafford penned her National Letter of Intent with Texas Wesleyan University (NAIA, Sooner Athletic Conference).  Gafford will be playing for former Midland College head coach Kimberly Boone-Weaver at Texas Wesleyan.
