New Mexico Junior College has been awarded the privilege to host the 2011 NJCAA cross country meet. Officials from New Mexico JC made the announcement at the recently held NJCAA national meetings in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Congratulations to New Mexico JC director of athletics Don Worth as well as New Mexico JC for representing Region 5 in such a prestigous event!

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The South Plains College Texans
successfully defended the NJCAA half marathon championship they won last year
behind the returning sophomores who powered them to the title last year.

PEORIA, Ill. - The fifth ranked Lady Texan and seventh ranked Texan
cross country teams performed better than their rankings this past
Saturday when the SPC women finished third and the men fourth at the
NJCAA cross country championships in Peoria, Illinois.

Texans were able to leap past Region 5 rival and number two ranked El
Paso Community College and fourth ranked Cowley County with a strong
team showing, led by freshman Lisa Forsberg.

The women's cross country team from El Paso Community College is ranked number one in the latest NJCAA poll released September 23. El Paso received eight of the 11 first place votes. The ladies from New Mexico Junior College rank seventh and South Plains College sits at 13th.
On the men's side, South Plains College is ranked sixth and El Paso is tenth.

Overland Park, Kansas - After coming up just short of another NJCAA
National Championship two weeks ago at the cross country championships,
the Texan distance runners bounced back and won the NJCAA Half-Marathon
national championship in Overland Park, Kansas.
