For former Midland College Lady Chap softball player Monique Corralez the 2011 MLB World Series bore special significance. Corralez played outfield for Midland College Coach Tommy Ramos from 2004-2006. She is currently employed with the Texas Rangers as an Community Outreach Assistant. Ms. Corralez works in the Foundation and Community Outreach Department of the club. Among her duties are working with the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation in various capacities including procuring signed team memorabilia items for the Foundation's Silent Auction, which raises money for scholarships for deserving students. Additionally, Ms. Corralez will make sure the scholarship monies are sent to the proper universities on the student's behalf. She also mans the auction booth during games in Arlington.

Three sophomore baseball players and one sophomore softball player have been selected to represent McLennan Community College at the Fuddruckers Junior College All-Star Weekend this Friday and Saturday at Baylor Ballpark and Getterman Stadium.
Pitcher Thomas Altimont, infielder/outfielder Max Farmer and outfielder Jonathan Mejia will represent the Highlanders on the Region V North baseball squad. The squad will play Region XIV South at 8 p.m. on Friday and Region XIV East at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Outfielder Victoria Alcozer will represent MCC on the Region V North softball squad. The squad will play Region V West at 6 p.m. on Friday, and Region XIV South at noon and Region XIV East at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), in conjunction with the NJCAA, has selected its 2011 Players of the Year for all three divisions of play. Howard College (Tex.)
left fielder Tyler Collins has been selected as the 2011 ABCA NJCAA
Division I Baseball Player of the Year.
Tyler Collins, a sophomore from Trophy Club, Texas, recorded an incredible season playing for Howard College. The 6'0" left fielder finished second in batting average in NJCAA Division I with a .488 average, going 105-for-215 and led the ranks in home runs with 19 on the year. Collins finished with 82 RBI's on the season, placing him second in the NJCAA Division I. The 2011 Player of the Year led the Hawks' offense and added 16 stolen bases, 34 doubles, and four triples to his already amazing statistical line. Tyler took home the Rawlings Big Stick Award for posting the highest batting average in the Southwestern District (Region 5) as well.
On June 7, Collins was selected in the 6th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers.
