South Plains, Odessa eliminated at NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Tournament

Two Region V teams participated in the 2017 NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.

Odessa College qualified for the National Tournament thanks to their first-place finish at the Region V Tournament earlier this month. South Plains College was an at-large selection for the National Tournament.

South Plains is the No. 2 seed and received a bye in the opening round. In their first game on Tuesday, the Texans downed Panola 88-84. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Vincennes 69-67 thanks to a 3-pointer by Jordan Brangers with 5 seconds remaining. In the Semifinals Friday, SPC lost to Eastern Florida 77-65.

Odessa College is the No. 5 seed and also received a first-round bye. In the second round, they defeated Gilette 83-76. In the Quarterfinals, they lost a heartbreaker to No. 4 seed Hutchinson 89-86.
