WTC captures Region 5 championships
Western Texas College battled Hill College to a scoreless draw through double overtime before claiming a thrilling 5–4 victory in penalty kicks Wednesday afternoon, winning the NJCAA Region 5 Championship.
Pablo Lobon led the team with four shots, while Myles Taylor added three. Goalkeeper Brian Garcia was a standout, recording eight saves in 110 minutes of shutout play and making key stops in the shootout to keep WTC alive.
After a scoreless 110 minutes, the game was decided in penalty kicks. With the score tied 4–4, Taylor converted the decisive kick, sending the Westerners forward.
Western Texas College will now await their opponent this weekend, with dates and times yet to be determined.
