Klenda, Benavides earn NTJCAC Softball honors

Jasmine Benavides of Temple College and Natalie Klenda of McLennan Community College were selected the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week.

A sophomore shortstop from Temple, Texas, Benavides is the NTJCAC Position Player of the Week. She batted .667 for the week with 3 home runs and 7 RBI. She also scored 6 runs and recorded 3 stolen bases.

A sophomore right-hander from Wichita, Kansas, Klenda is the NTJCAC Pitcher of the Week. She worked 10 innings for a 3-2 win over Weatherford. In the game, she allowed just 7 hits, 2 runs and just 2 walks while striking out 3. She also pitched 5.2 innings in relief in Game 2 to collect an 11-4 win over Weatherford. In that game, she allowed just 3 hits and 3 earned runs.
